On July 5th, an inspiring Info Session for the IndustryMeetsTalent initiative captivated participants, setting the stage for a transformative collaboration. The initiative unveiled its comprehensive objectives and manifold benefits for universities, TVETs, and the industry, leaving participants captivated with a clear vision of the path ahead. The Info Session brought together representatives from 16 institutions from the Nairobi area.

During the session, details on the timeline, application process, and meticulous team selection procedures were meticulously explained, fostering a clear understanding of the initiative’s approach. As a result, the institutions proposed formal communication to secure full buy-in from their respective Heads. An Info Kit was shared, to the institution representatives along with the IndustryMeetsTalent team’s commitment to actively engage with institutions to promote this transformative initiative.

The Info Session proved to be a powerful platform to validate the initiative’s goals which are to empower Kenyan youth, foster dignified work opportunities and entrepreneurship, and bridge industry-university/TVET gaps.

For all stakeholders involved in the initiative, there are general benefits to be reaped; Industry stands to benefit from a skilled workforce that meets their specific needs, for universities and TVETs the initiative enhances their curricula and training programs, aligning them with industry demands and ensuring the development of market-relevant talents.

The IndustryMeetsTalent Info Session proved to be a powerful platform for empowering Kenyan youth with dignified work and entrepreneurship opportunities and bridging the gap between industry and universities/TVETs. The journey towards unlocking the true potential of Kenya’s youth begins.

About IndustryMeetsTalent Initiative

IndustryMeetsTalent is an initiative run by Next Arabia in partnership with Mastercard Foundation. This initiative aims to solve some of the major industry pain points by leveraging talents and solutions at universities and TVETs.

Unlike traditional approaches that focus on training and education (supply-driven), this initiative focuses on identifying real industry pain points and then using existing or newly developed talents to solve these industry pain points in order to create dignified work and entrepreneurship opportunities (demand-driven).
